10. "I Can Only Imagine" by David Guetta featuring Chris Brown and Lil Wayne
David Guetta is known for making hot jams, and "I Can Only Imagine" is no exception. Chris Brown lays down fun, club-style vocals and Lil Wayne lays down a rap that fits the track’s beat and message perfectly, even repeating the same rap later in the song (a rarely done feat that somehow works for this track). The song expresses longing over knowing what it would be like to (fill in the blank) and encourages the listener to find out. Summer will be over before you know it, so stop imagining, and start living.
9. "Get Out" by Casey Abrams
If you’re more into a low key summer jam, then look no further then American Idol’s Season 10 bearded bass playing Casey Abrams. His debut album is surprisingly pop-sounding, but only in the best way, and "Get Out," his lead single (which we recently reviewed), captures that vibe. This easy jam makes us wish we could live on the beach, surfing and learning to play the mandolin while grilling over an open fire. Just close your eyes and imagine yourself driving along the beach in your convertible with the top down…yeah, that’s the stuff summer is made of.
8. "Starships" by Pentatonix (Originally performed by Nicki Minaj)
7. "Life As We Know It" by Allstar Weekend
Allstar Weekend is about to embark on a summer tour with Honor Society and their EP, The American Dream, is currently available on Amazon and iTunes (and it's only $5.99 - Talk about getting more bang for your buck). These three boys from California and their “seize the day” anthem are about as summery as you can get. Much like Casey Abrams’ “Get Out,” this is a more low key jam, but "Life As We Know It" is still worth cranking up as you party with your red solo cup poolside. So keep partying all night, because this is life as we know it.
6. "Whistle" by Flo Rida
If you don’t start bobbing your head the moment this song begins with its whistling tune, then you must have gotten too much sun last weekend. Flo Rida carries the song all on his own, from rapping to the slowed down chorus (with the help of some expert whistling of course). "Whistle" is the perfect song to grab a hottie, get real close, and sway dance to the beat. So give a little whistle to call over your friends, your girlfriend or boyfriend, or that cutie sitting down the beach, and let the fun begin.
5. "As Long As You Love Me" by Justin Bieber featuring Big Sean
4. "Morning Sun" by Rock Mafia featuring Miley Cyrus
3. "I'm On a Roll" by Stefano featuring New Boyz & Rock Mafia
2. "Want U Back" by Cher Lloyd
1. "Good Time" by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen
If you’re like us, you’re about ready to dig a sharp object into your skull if it will stop Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” from playing over and over and over (and over). We have the perfect solution to get that pesky hit out of your head – Another Carly Rae Jepsen song, except this one has a little extra help. It’s Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen combined on "Good Time," an airy “We love summer and life” pop tune that has us jumping around in our rooms, on the beach, and even bobbing our heads in the car while we avoid any radio station playing “Call Me Maybe.” So give it a listen…maybe.
