10. "Morning Sun" by Rock Mafia featuring Miley Cyrus
This song is brand new and is the only non-single on our list (we’re hoping Rock Mafia announces it as an official single soon), but that has not stopped it from getting some very serious spins in the clubs and on late-night radio shows (it is due to these spins that it also made our Top Ten Hot New Summer Jams). The song is perfect for the club and anything happening before or after. Plus, you can get it (and Rock Mafia’s entire mixtape) for free! So, tonight, let’s be pimps and hoes.
9. "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)" by Enrique Iglesias featuring Ludacris and DJ Frank E
The club is all about hook-ups and one night stands, and this song was made just for that and just so happens to be Enrique's most successful song in terms of radio airplay. Enrique lays it out straight, no lies, as he tries (and succeeds) to seduce women all over the world with a little help from a great verse by Ludacris. You may not be able to travel all around the world bedding various hotties like these two do in the music video, but you can make your way around the club, spreading the love…of this song, that is.
8. "We Run the Night" by Havana Brown featuring Pitbull
Havana Brown is basically like the new Cascada (“Evacuate the Dance Floor” is our honorable mention for this list). She’s a beautiful, blonde, female DJ who blew up in her home country (she’s a native Australian) and then spread her #1 hit to the rest of the world. In the American version of "We Run the Night" she even adds Pitbull (a recurring person on our list) to add a little flavor. Whether or not Havana has staying power, we’re still not sure of yet, but with how often we hear this hit in the clubs, we hope her next song is just as big of a hit and just as addictive.
7. "Just Dance" by Lady Gaga featuring Colby O'Donis
Before the meat dress and songs with deep messages, Lady Gaga’s very first single was a club anthem and simple motto: just dance. Why worry about the world outside of that heated building full of booze, lights, and noise? No matter what’s going on, just do a little dance and it will all be okay. Gaga has said that it took her ten minutes to write "Just Dance" and that it was written as “a happy record." It worked out for Gaga, who actually makes our list twice, with her second single making the top three.
6. "Hey Baby (Drop It To the Floor)" by Pitbull featuring T-Pain
Pitbull and T-Pain are like verified club kings – Play any song by them in a crowded room of slightly tipsy or fully wasted people, and you’re guaranteed to have a good dance party going in. Pitbull was an established rapper before this 2010 hit, but "Hey Baby" really put him out there to radio listeners and introduced him to a whole new demographic of fans. It also showed other artists that they needed Pitbull on their track in order to make a great dance hit, a truth that #1 and #8 on our list demonstrate.
5. "Don't Stop the Music" by Rihanna
Rihanna is queen of the club. You can take basically any of her songs and turn it into a dance party involving some serious hands-on action. “Don’t Stop the Music” is from RiRi’s third album, Good Girl Gone Bad, the album where she really started to embrace a more radio and club friendly format that has guided her explosive career ever since. If you want a newer Rihanna song for your club needs, check out her video for “Where Have You Been” – it’s sexy Rihanna at her best.
4. "Tik Tok" by Ke$ha
Where would we be if wasn’t for the awe-inspiring and thought-provoking music of that great lyrical genius that is Ke$ha? Seriously, it’s like the Gods of rock, punk, pop, indie, and hipsters got together just to create this masterpiece of glitter puke. "Tik Tok," Ke$ha’s first solo single, blew up the charts and broke records, all while the peeps in the club broke bottles, laws, and hearts. So go ahead and wonder what it really does feel like to wake up feeling like P. Diddy, we’re going to be busy fending off the popo.
3. "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga
“Just Dance” may have been Lady Gaga’s first single and big hit, but “Poker Face” was the single that put her on the music and clubbing map, and it earned Gaga her first Grammy (“Just Dance” was nominated for a Grammy, but did not win). The syncopated beat, with the recurring “ma, ma, ma, ma,” make it impossible to not dance along with this hit; plus, the song has sold over 10 million copies. We all need that signature face to make while we’re getting our groove on. Why not a po-po-po-poker face?
2. "Yeah!" by Usher featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris
Sure, this song is by far the oldest on our list, but this song is still a club standard. Usher, Lil Jon, and Ludacris (making his second appearance on our list) on a track together in one of the biggest hits of Usher’s career. Usher wrote "Yeah!" for the club and all the crazy, hot, fun times you can have while rocking out on the dance floor to your favorite beat. From Usher’s vocals, to one of Ludacris’ most memorable raps, to Lil Jon’s awkward voice yelling over the track, to the “da duh, da duh” of the beat, this song is “a certified twenty”…Yeah, man.
1. "On the Floor" by Jennifer Lopez featuring Pitbull
JLo has been doing music for over ten years now. Right when her career seemed to be doomed (anybody remember her performance of “Louboutins” on the American Music Awards), Jenny from the block joined American Idol, got a new record label, and promptly put out this single. And her career skyrocketed. “On the Floor” is JLo’s most successful single to date. If you need more reason to shake your hips to this sexy Latina, this month, she released Dance Again…The Hits, a compilation album.
