It’s no secret that red heads are terribly underestimated (okay, that might not be true, but just go with us). Over the past few years Ed Sheeran, a ginger with a heart of gold and a wicked mouth, has been plotting his world takeover. Sure, he seems like he’s just a nice British guy who can play guitar and write songs that make you want to cry, dance, and fall in love all at the same time, but don’t let his laid-back attitude and busted-up guitar fool you. Ed Sheeran is a force to be reckoned with. Now, three years since he released his first radio hit, “The A Team,” Ed Sheeran is ready to release his second full-length album, X (pronounced "Multiply"), starting with the release of his brand new single, “SING.”
Ed Sheeran also brings his signature version of rapping to the song, trading from crooning some amazing “oh ohs” to rapping about tequila and “We Found Love” (um, Rihanna and Ed Sheeran duet, please). The track also brings something new, with a lot more synth and percussion than most of his other songs usually allow. And look out for his falsetto, because damn. Also new is the producer Ed worked with for the song – the hat wearing man himself, Pharrell. Another surprise producer on the album includes Rick Rubin, who had Ed record the album acoustically and then later added the rest of the instrumentation (which means we’ll probably hear acoustic versions of most of the songs at some point). |
