This week, Casey Abrams becomes the fifth American Idol contestant from Season 10 to release an album (following Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, James Durbin, and Haley Reinhart). The self-titled release should do pretty well and promises an eclectic mix of tunes with both good vocals and solid musical melodies. To prepare his fans for the album, Casey released his single “Get Out” three weeks ago. If you’re on the fence with how you feel about the bearded bassist, then look no further than our review of his premiere single to guide you in the right direction!
The song starts off right away with a neat mandolin sound that continues throughout the song. His vocals come in softly on the song and are almost reminiscent of the more pop sounding songs from Maroon 5 (which makes sense considering Casey covered Maroon 5’s “Harder to Breathe ” while on Idol – In fact, it’s the performance where he kissed Jennifer Lopez). The lyrics refer to Casey’s feelings as he tries to steer himself away from a potential breakup, knowing all the while that if one of them isn't into it, then they need to get out. The lyrics remain relatively happy sounding despite the potential breakup about to occur, making it impossible not to want to sing along. It’s an anthem for the summer heartbreaks that is both fun to sing along with and meaningful, a rare combination.
