When Stefano Langone got the boot last year on American Idol, we have to admit that we saw it coming, but we also have to admit that we were sad to see him go. While he may not have won, Stefano proved that he was somebody that the fans wanted to see more of, so much so that they kept him in the competition week after week, even when his performances weren’t perfect. He’s a young, charismatic performer who does great in interviews and doesn’t mind listening to advice. He’s a good looking guy with a clean style and a voice that can turn from cute to sexy in no time flat, making him the perfect fit for his current record label, Hollywood Records (the same people behind the Jonas Brothers and Jesse McCartney). The same record label with which he has now released his first single: “I’m On a Roll.” |
It’s impossible not to stare at the single cover for “I’m On a Roll.” It’s a fun burst of colors with Stefano dressed cool and casually (notice the hoodie) without looking too gimmicky. The cover is clearly pushing the singer more than the song (notice that Stefano’s name is much larger than the song title and is also bolded), but, since it’s his first single, that’s understandable. The first thing to notice about Stefano’s premiere single is the featured guests. Rock Mafia, Hollywood Records’ go-to producers and songwriters, are featured on the track. These are the same people behind Vanessa Hudgens’ “Sneaker Night” and Selena Gomez & the Scene’s “Naturally” – They know how to make a good party hit. And that’s exactly what they did here. From the opening note and beat, the listener is immediately drawn into the dance-y, fist pumping dance anthem of the summer. |
