The music video opens with Kelly in a light pink loose-fitting shirt – A good choice for the more sentimental sounding verses (and the lullaby beginning). She also appears in very light makeup, another good choice based on the musical and lyrical content.
During all of Kelly’s real world shots, she sports a black and green catsuit-esque outfit. While this outfit is a little less like Kelly than her other one, we understand that this outfit is meant to highlight the idea of her having a “dark” side by being a “dark” outfit. And even if doesn’t scream Kelly Clarkson, we have to admit she looks great in it, especially in the shots with the city in the background. |
As the video progresses, we see more and more shots of smiling people and butterflies and less of bullies and lonely kids. Towards the end of the video, when we return to the lullaby tune of the beginning of the video, is where we run into the only thing that we find a little gimmicky and hard to just accept: When Kelly starts to interact with the other characters, giving them hugs and reassuring pats on the back. Sure, these people obviously could use some love, but this feels like the video is trying just a little too hard.
